Elevator Testing Services is dedicated to advancing elevator safety, reliability, and compliance for every facility we serve. We partner with building owners, property managers, institutions, fire companies, and elevator companies to ensure every elevator is safe, reliable, and fully compliant with all codes and regulations.
ETS provides independent testing, clear reporting, and expert guidance to protect the public and help our clients maintain elevator safety. Our mission is to safeguard the riding public and strengthen the capabilities of those responsible for building and elevator management.
We focus on identifying hazards early, confirming that life-safety and emergency functions perform as designed, and helping our clients address issues before they affect riders or operations.
Through transparent communication and practical recommendations, we empower our customers to make sound decisions about maintenance, repairs, & modernization.
By coordinating with emergency responders and code authorities, we help ensure elevators support safe evacuations, firefighter operations, and resilient building performance.

City Fire Department Annual Elevator Testing is a mandatory inspection that must take place each year, in compliance with relevant fire code requirements and the safety provisions outlined in ASME A17.1/CSA B44 (Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators) and ASME A17.3 (Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators). This annual elevator testing involves certified personnel conducting a thorough load test to ensure that elevator operation, emergency power functions, fire emergency operation (Phase I recall and Phase II in-car operation), communication systems, and life-safety interfaces meet all code requirements. The results from this testing are uploaded into the Brycer Compliance Engine (with city participation), effectively contributing to the safety of building occupants and first responders during fire and other emergency situations.

California State elevator testing is mandated by Cal/OSHA's Elevator Unit to ensure compliance with the California Elevator Safety Orders (Title 8, Group IV) and the ASME A17.1 Safety Code for Elevators & Escalators.
Each year, a State elevator inspector conducts a visit to the building to review elevator operation and maintenance records. After the inspection, they issue an invoice along with a Preliminary Order that outlines all required tests, code items, and any noted violations, including deadlines for rectification.
Elevator Testing Services utilizes this Preliminary Order as a checklist to carry out the necessary Category 1 annual test, along with any applicable 3-year or 5-year load test. They also complete any required corrections and submit the appropriate documentation back to Cal/OSHA. Once the State has cleared the Preliminary Order, your Permit to Operate is renewed, allowing your elevator to remain in legal service.

LADBS reinspection report corrections involve addressing issues cited by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety after an initial inspection, including those related to elevator safety. Our team reviews your LADBS correction notice, performs the necessary repairs or adjustments—which may include elevator testing—and submits the correction to the LADBS. We also handle load test requirements to ensure that all code and safety items are properly addressed. By coordinating with inspectors and completing State elevator testing as needed, we help ensure your system passes follow-up inspections swiftly and remains in full compliance with LADBS requirements.

Elevator load testing is a requirement enforced by Cal/OSHA's Elevator Unit & LADBS, as outlined in Title 8 and ASME A17.1 standards. This vital safety and performance procedure ensures that an elevator can safely carry its rated capacity. During elevator testing, technicians load the elevator to its maximum specified load and even beyond, operating it through multiple cycles. Throughout this load test, they assess braking, acceleration, door operation, leveling accuracy, and emergency systems. Successful state elevator testing guarantees that the elevator complies with code requirements, operates reliably in real-world conditions, and safeguards passengers from potential mechanical failure.

LAFD Regulation 4 elevator testing is an annual fire life-safety inspection required by the Los Angeles Fire Department to ensure that automatic elevators adhere to Chief's Regulation No. 4, the Los Angeles Fire Code, and the applicable elevator fire-service provisions (Phase I recall and Phase II firefighter operation). This essential annual safety test, often referred to as elevator testing, assesses your elevators’ emergency operations, including both Phase I recall and Phase II firefighter service. During this testing process, a certified technician conducts a load test to verify that elevators automatically return to the designated floor during a fire alarm, lock out normal use, and can be safely controlled by firefighters in an emergency. This crucial procedure helps maintain your building's code compliance and protects all occupants. All test results are uploaded into the Brycer Compliance Engine for easy access and records management.

As an elevator consultant, ETS provides independent, expert guidance on the design, condition, performance, and code compliance of your elevator systems. We conduct thorough reviews of existing equipment, maintenance practices, and testing records, including essential elevator testing and load tests. Our team identifies any safety or reliability issues and recommends cost-effective options for repair, modernization, or replacement. Acting as your advocate, we help you plan projects, compare contractor proposals, and ensure your elevators meet applicable codes while serving your building safely and efficiently through comprehensive State elevator testing.
